"Floral Remembrance" is a show of some thirty
paintings of Andreï M. Zadorozny (1921-2001). These
works are part of the immense production on the floral
theme that the Ukrainian artist, who came to Canada in
1937, painted over a 50-year period.
An avant-garde artist, Zadorozny was contemporary of the
impressionists even though he never totally complied
with the technique. He studied with some of our Canadian
masters, among whom Arthur Lismer and Jacques de
Tonnancourt with whom he entertained a close
relationship then after. He worked many years at the
Montréal Museum of Fine Art where some of his works can
be found in the permanent collections well as in the
collection of other museum such as Hamilton, Winnipeg
and Toronto |

Even though Zadorozny painted landscapes, city scenes
and still lives, we have chosen to offer the public a
wonderful bouquet of flowers painted during is whole
painting life, flowers that will bloom in your dwelling
for years to come, should it rain, should it be sunny. |
