Barbara was born in Montréal. She has been interested in art since she was a
young child when she used to draw on every piece of paper that she could
find. Drawing is still a regular activity for her and she meets weekly with
a study group to draw the live model.
While raising a family of four
children Barbara decided to return to school. She studied on a part time
basis for the next fifteen years and earned two under graduate degrees, one
in literature and studio art and a second one as an art education
specialist. Barbara was drawn to the “romantic” poets and her art has been
influenced by some of their ideas. She researches the themes of colour and
light and what she learns becomes the content of her classes and workshops.
Barbara is an elected member of the
Canadian Society of Aquarelle, The Canadian Society of Painters in Water
Color and The Louisiana Watercolor Society. Over the past twenty-five years,
she has exhibited in juried competitions both nationally and
internationally.
