Inhabited by two passions, a technical one and an
artistic one, it took Marie-Claude a while before choosing to become a
full-time artist. For the last ten years she let the artist take over and
only retained the rigour of the chemist. Her brother Jean-Louis Courteau, a
well-known artist, talks about his sister: "Her brushes open a window on
the intimacy of a garden, on the immensity of a field in the spring, on the
delicacy of a lily in the heat of the summer or on the arrogant rumbling of
a torrent. At the end the landscapes she paints invariably correspond to
her." As a great nature lover Marie-Claude Courteau is inspired by it and
this is why she can translate her feelings so well on the canvas for our
greater joy.
