Visit at
the Salvador Dali Museum
For those who
receive our emails since the very beginning, you are already aware
that we are unconditional amateurs of Dali.
Last week we
were on vacation close to St Petersburg in Florida. For sure we made
our pilgrimage to Salvador Dali Museum. And, like every time, we
were excited as soon as we entered this museum dedicated to the
great master. Like it or not, this artist, painter, sculptor and…
left an indelible mark in the history of visual arts.
But this
outrageous artist proves to be up to his reputation with these words
he left to the posterity:
“The true
painter must be able, with the most usual things to have the most
unusual ideas.”
- Salvador
Dalí, 50 Secrets of Magic Craftsmanship, p.120
We always take
the guided tour because each time we learn something new about the
artworks presented, or the iconography of the artist, or different
elements that cannot be seen at the first glance. Moreover, several
artworks had been changed since our last visit allowing us to see
some originals for first time (rotation is done on a regular basis;
they have more than 2,100 works in inventory). Above all, what I
discovered this time is the beauty and the richness of his
colours.
Mathematics and
sciences having always been of importance for Dali, it is not
surprising that he was inspired by them, should it be through his
composition, or in his technique.
Browse on the
museum site and look at the various
works presented, you might then understand why we are always so
excited (or maybe not, it depends so much on everyone taste and what
everyone sees in there!).
